About Great People Probably Not Thrilled By The Holiday Craze

Dear festive season hater,

you are a great person. It might be that you are all about the truth like Rorschach and can’t bear the peace and love that you know builds on lies. Or it might be that you just disregard society and its norms like the Piscina De La Muerte, who definitely will take revenge and not subscribe to the fuzzy pressure of love for all. Or it might be that you dislike the pressure of being festive when other people want you to but you don’t feel that way. Like Gotham’s caped crusader, your mood is unwaveringly dark and somber.

You are a great person because like those people that I mentioned, you probably cope on your own – in a sea of people that are so different from you they might as well be henchmen of some festively themed villain.

That’s the thing about henchmen though. They are part of a community. They are strong together. Almost as strong you maybe? Definitely a threat.

But then of course, Batman and Deadpool and Rorschach in the end are stronger than any enemy, through the help of their friends and allies!

Following that logic, and if you really are sick of the fest pest, this might be a good time to get some people of similarly unfestive spirit together. You will be stronger in your defense. Maybe you even can mount your counterattack: Doing stuff with others that has nothing to do with the holidays.

Not observing holidays has you in great company. Not me unfortunately, but the guy I believe in: Jesus crashed the equivalent of a Christmas shop (Mt 21:12ff) and he did disregard holiday conventions rather often (Lk 6; Mt 12).

So all the best to you and good luck and godspeed on your difficult journey through this jingling, lovesick time!
